LITCHFIELD, Ill. - For the third time in as many years, The W women's cross country standout
Hannah Owens has earned an all-conference finish – this time a first-team honor, after back-to-back second-team placements - at the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) championships. The Owls women's team finished sixth, while the men were eighth place.
Owens (Olive Branch, Miss.), a junior, hit the tape of the six-kilometer women's race in a school-record time of 25:35.12 minutes, good for an eighth-place finish in the 50-runner field. That lopped better than seven seconds off of her previous school standard, set as a freshman in 2023.
It also marked the 17th-consecutive race – every event of her MUW career – that Owens has been the Owls' top finisher.
Freshman
Destini Simmons was 20th in a clocking of 28:50.85. She was followed by
Rebecca Aday in 37th (34:01.24),
Kymani Smith in 45th (38:20.83), and
Alaina Mathis in 47th (41:33.87).
Mathis was cited on the SLIAC's All-Sportsmanship Team.

On the men's side, it was newcomer
