Box Score DECATUR, Ga. – The W women's soccer won its second match in the last three outings, blanking Agnes Scott College, 2-0, in a non-conference road match. The win improved the Owls to 2-7-0, while the Scotties fell to 0-8-1.
For the resurgent MUW side, it was a dominating effort. True, both teams did have the same number of shot attempts: 13. But it was a matter of quality, as The W put 10 of its tries directly on goal, while ASC managed just four shots on-goal and all of which were saved by Owls' netminder
Cam Lopez.
Additionally, MUW held an 11-5 advantage in corner kick opportunities.
Despite MUW keeping the ball in the attacking half most of the match, the teams were deadlocked at 0-0 through the 44th minute. But with just 26 seconds left until halftime,
Kiersten Taylor crushed a long shot that sailed past ASC's Olivia Rosario and send the Owls into the break, up 1-0.
In the 76th minute, The W got some insurance from its freshman phenom
Reagan Shinn. Shinn took a pass from
Avery Bartlett and put it past Rosario's outstretched arms. Shinn's team-leading fifth goal of 2026, gave her team a 2-0 advantage that it kept for the balance of the match.
Lopez was stellar between the pipes, making a pair of save in each half. It was her second shutout in her four games back, after missing the team's first five bouts of the year due to an injury.
The W will play another non-conference tilt on Wednesday (Oct. 7/5 p.m.) at home versus Belhaven University.
